How did we build a phone company? Sotel Systems has over 26 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. We have been a financially stable and profitable company for 26 of those years and we did so by being open to change. New challenges in business bring forth new ideas and paradigm shifts. In order that we might address these changes, we formed a team called Sotel IP Services that has been focused in IP products and services since December 2005.
In January 2006 Stéphane Alnet signed an exclusive contract as independent consultant to the IP Services team for the design and construction of our soft-switch platform. Stéphane holds several advanced degrees in computer science and has vast experience with VoIP and IP Telephony, both in enterprise and carrier markets. He has since cemented his relationship with Sotel IP Services as its CTO and brings a wealth of experience in networking and VoIP platforms to the team. Stéphane is a proven developer, network architect and executive manager.
We established an exclusive carrier relationship with Level (3) and passed interoperability testing in March 2007 with our SIP Trunking platform. This was accomplished in record time (10 days) and we went live with our first customer on July 8th, 2007, maintaining a 99.975% call completion rate. Rounding out the team are Ronda Scheer and Ben Koeneker. Ronda Scheer joined Sotel in September 2006 as the Director of Sales & Marketing. She had 22 years experience in the Telecom industry with Lucent/Avaya first in distribution and then sales. Ben Koeneker, Major Accounts Manager, also joined the team in September 2006 and has over 10 years of experience in hardware and services distribution to the Enterprise and Interconnect markets. Sotel IP Services provides SIP Trunking services through agents and resellers, and builds SIP Trunking environments for our resellers with our softswitch product and consulting services.
